Edition

Thirteen evenings, from Christmas Eve to the eve of Epiphany, each one given to a single sense. On the first night you attend to touch. Night by night you come round the circle of the senses to the sense of the I, and on the thirteenth evening the twelve are gathered together.

The book is built on Rudolf Steiner's own words about the twelve senses and the Holy Nights. Every quotation has been checked against his collected works and is cited by volume and lecture date. Where something is Thalira's own design, such as giving one sense to each night, the book tells you so.

What is in the edition

  • Four opening chapters: what the Holy Nights are, Steiner's twelve senses, how to keep the nights at home, and the Dream Song of Olaf Åsteson.
  • Thirteen night chapters. Each one gives what Steiner saw in that sense, an evening practice of fifteen to twenty minutes, a note for going to sleep and one for the morning, and questions for your journal.
  • Steiner's Christmas verses, with his German beneath.
  • A separate printable journal with a page for each night.
  • Folk customs, such as reading each night as a month of the coming year, kept in small boxes marked as tradition and apart from the teaching.

Choose your language

  • English: The Twelve Senses of the Holy Nights, 143 pages, with the journal.

How it arrives

Two PDFs, the book and the journal, sized 6 by 9 inches for reading on a screen or printing at home. Your download link appears right after checkout and comes by email too. Nothing ships.

What changed from last year

Last year's guide ran twelve nights and gave each night correspondence tables, zodiac signs, crystals and spiritual hierarchies, much of which Steiner never taught. This edition takes them out, adds the thirteenth night that Steiner counts, and explains every change in its preface.

Start with the first evening

The first night is free. The Thirteen Nights gives you the calendar and the whole of Night One, in English, auf Deutsch or en français.
